Submissions may be made as the sole author or as the first author in case of a collective article (see eligibility below). The excellence of a scientific article will be evaluated by considering the following elements: conceptual contribution; analytical quality; methodological innovation; societal relevance. The prize is awarded by the SSS Committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deadline for submission is March 31 of the year of the conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Eligibility criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The candidate must be a SSA member when submitting<\/li>\n<li>The candidate must either be a doctoral student or have obtained his or her doctoral thesis or MA no more than 6 years ago<\/li>\n<li>The candidate must have done his or her thesis in Switzerland or work in a Swiss University, HES or a research institute in Switzerland<\/li>\n<li>The article must have been published in the two calendar years preceding the congress (online first or paper publication)<\/li>\n<li>If the article is collective, the candidate must be the first author and have the agreement of the co-authors. The contributions of the different authors must be explained.<\/li>\n<li>In the case of a collective article with equal participation of all authors, several people can compete together<\/li>\n<li>The article must be written in one of the national languages or in English<\/li>\n<li>Only one article can be submitted per person<\/li>\n<li>Both self-applications and applications sent by third parties are accepted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The prize consists of <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; 2000.\u2013 CHF<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Free participation in the congress<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Composition of the jury<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The jury is composed of three members, appointed by the SSA committee. A total of 18 young researchers submitted an essay. The jury, consisting of Philip Balsiger, Monica Budowski and Christoph Maeder, unanimously decided in favour of the essay proposed by Camille Giraut, affiliated with the Graduate Institute in Geneva:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giraut, Camille. 2023. \u201cFrom privileges to rights: changing perceptions of racial quotas in Brazil.\u201d Ethnic and Racial Studies. nn:1-24.
