Bern 2013

Welcome to the Congress
of the Swiss Sociological Association in Bern

The 9th Conference of the Swiss Sociological Association will be held in Bern this year from June 26th to June 28th. While the conference’s theme “Inequality and Integration in the Crisis,” is a traditional topic in Sociology, it is also relevant to the social challenges that confront many European nations today given the current debt crisis.

Sociology examines how inequality arises, its consequences, and how it can be reduced. Is inequality still a problem in our society? Over 300 contributions from both Switzerland and abroad will be presented in 4 primary presentations, 21 plenary sessions and 61 parallel sessions.
